Erna and Janis Strauts were sponsored by Canadians Peter Green and Ilga Green nee Strauts to come to Canada from England. They, like so many other displaced ethnic Latvians, had moved to England at the end of WWII.

Scout digintary visiting displaced persons camps in Germany. Upon speaking to Peter Green, then a Scout, she advised him to apply for immigration to Canada rather than Australia or England, ca 1946.
