Description / Synopsis
Stella and Sebastian's life history told by their daughter, Marcia Woytovicz. Born in Poland, Stella immigrated to Alberta in 1932 and Sebastian in 1938, together with their families. Escaping the ravages of world wars, their parents sought freedom, a better life and the right to own land. Both families homesteaded in virgin wilderness north of Athabasca. Stella and Sebastian attended Laura School. Stella’s father donated land for St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church in Pleasant View, and Stella and Sebastian were the first couple married there. They supported their six children through mixed farming and milling lumber, and felt very fortunate to have come to Canada (5 pages) |
