Notes - Mrs. Vi Kowalchuk writes of rural electrification following her interview with B. Loiselle, the contractor responsible for building the one hundred miles of power lines in the area over an eleven year period. Mrs. Kowalchuk writes of the changes electricity brought to farm life (for the farmer and his wife), education, community centres, and the local hospital. From heating water for the chickens to no longer having to wrestle frozen long johns off of an outside drying line, Mrs. Kowalchuk speaks of many of the changes the power lines brought to the Athabasca area (4 pages) |
