Latvian mittens designed and knitted by ethnic Latvian weaver Biruta Friemanis of Calgary, Alberta. Many knitting motifs are based on Latvian mythology from pagan times. Mitten colours and motifs are ethnographic. The centre mitten is in the traditional colors of Vidzeme while the mitten on the right is brown, a colour common to Zemgale.
