Aerial photograph of the Mutzeneek home in Darwell, Alberta. The house was originally used as the second schoolhouse building in Lake Isle. Mr. Mutzeneek renovated the schoolhouse in 1949.
Because Canadian farmers were exempted from military service during WWII, the Mutzeneek men stayed in Lake Isle. Fuel shortages during World War II were managed by conserving gasoline at home. Gasoline ration cards were used by families across Canada. The Mutzeneek family of Lake Isle, Alberta saved these samples.
