Lake project necessary As a long- time resident of Stettler, property owner i n Rochon Sands and reader of your paper, I am sick and tired of the ignorance shown by your allegedly informed writers. I am referring to the plan to pump water from the Red Deer River to the villages of A l i x and Mirror i n order to give them a stable water supply and that as a result of this project, Buffalo Lake would be a storage shed to control the flow of water along the appropriate creeks. If your writers lived i n the area or took the time to object i v e l y study the issue, they would be better prepared to inform your readers . . . . There is an urgent water and drainage problem associated with the Parlby Creek basin. The water supply for Alix and Mirror is severely deficient and there is long- standing flooding concerns affecting hundreds of acres of prime hay land. Stabilizing Buffalo Lake is only a spinoff to these other concerns . . . . KATHIE HAN KINS, Stettler. |
