Notes - Mrs. Vi Kowalchuk writes of her interview with Annie Rypien about the history of sawmills in the Athabasca area. The late 1800s saw Athabasca begin to produce rough lumber, as time progressed steam-operated sawmills started to be built and operate in the area. The history of logging and of the mills in the area are discussed in detail in this account including the transportation of these goods by river.
