Documents - This is a copy of the offer to supply natural gas to the Town of Athabasca by A. F. A. Coyne and Company of London, England. The offer was written on October 25, 1919. The Company states that they believe that Athabasca would become a great manufacturing centre, and because of this the Company was willing to sell natural gas to the Town at the very low price of one cent per thousand cubic feet. As a reference point, it is stated that the price of gas in Medicine Hat is five cents per thousand cubic feet. The offer contains a draft agreement between the Town and the Company, which the Company wanted signed as soon as possible. A deposit of five hundred dollars was given to the Town as a sign of the Company's commitment to the agreement. Stated in the agreement was the price of gas was not to exceed five cents per thousand cubic feet. The agreement also states that if the Company strikes crude oil within the Town limits, it will pay the Town a royalty of twenty percent of the proceeds from the well(s) (12 pages) |
