Audio - Mr. D. Torquil MacDonald of Rosewell, New Mexico, talks about his personal history. He tells the story of his father, Dr. MacDonald, rescuing a toddler (Sadie Marcella Gervais) from a fire at a hospital in New Mexico. The child moved with them to Athabasca, but when the family moved on to Halifax and Cape Breton, the authorities would not allow the child to stay with them as she could not be properly adopted due to their differing religions (Sadie was Roman Catholic) 30:17 minutes
