Transcript: Porn crackdown approved
EDMONTON ( Staff) — Alberta Women's Institutes sent a mes­sage
of congratulation to federal minister of justice John Crosbie for
taking a stand against pornography.
The organization has long been lobbying for some action by gov­ernment.
While they don't necessarily agree with the government's
definition of pornography, which does not distinguish between erot­ica
and hard core pornography, second vice- president Holly Hal­lett
said they are pleased legislation has been introduced.
The AWI recommendation congratulates the minister for intro­ducing
legislation controlling the production and distribution of porno­graphic
material, especially for proposed legislation in regards to sexual
assault and abuse of children.
